Halloween Party Drinks

For any Halloween adult party, you need cool Halloween party drinks, am I right? After all, what booze are you going to imbibe when you play the Halloween drinking game found on our Halloween Party Games and Ideas page?

Halloween party drinks need to have the right colors (orange, black, red, or monster green), be fun and interesting, and of course delicious. These drinks have it all, and then some. And don't forget, if you want to do your drinks on a BIG scale, check out our Halloween party punch ideas.

Creature from the Black Lagoon Martini

What you need: Green olives stuffed with blue cheese on each end for arms (so blue cheese hands are facing front), large pearl onion in the center for head/body (point up), cloves, fresh basil, 3 oz. vodka with a dash of vermouth per drink.

How you do it: Soak onions in green food coloring with just a hint of brown to make them look olive-colored. Add cloves for eyes and mouth. Thread first an arm, then the head/body, and then the other arm onto a 6" skewer. Set aside. Mix your vodka and vermouth in shaker with ice, strain and pour into glass. Add fresh basil leaves. Place skewer on glass. Skewer spans the top of the glass so the creature looks like it's coming out of the swampy martini.

Bloody Mary

It's all about the name when it comes to Halloween party drinks, although the color of this one is pretty darn good too.

What you need: 1 cup V-8, 2 Tbsp vodka, 2 tsp lime juice, dash celery salt, dash Tabasco sauce.

How you do it: Mix all ingredients in blender. Add long shreds of beets coming out of the drink to bloody it up.

BLACK VODKA, THE KEY TO ANY GHOULISH DRINK

Blavod: our black vodka of choice. You've got to admit, even the name is scary; it conjures up Dracula in my mind. Blavod is great to work with, and when poured slowly it gives you a clean line to delineate layers. There's just something about a Halloween party drink that lets you play with the sections...keep them separate, or use a skewer to make them bleed into one another in a controlled creepy way—think sand art. Here are some good choices for incorporating black vodka into your next batch of Halloween party drinks.

The Moldy Pumpkin

What you need: 2 oz. Blavod (black vodka), 6 oz. orange juice, 1 orange wedge, 1 shallow bowl of celery seeds.

How you do it: Pour all of the orange juice into a glass. Slowly add the black vodka so they don't mix. Dip one end of your orange peel into the celery seed and add to your glass. And there you have it, a new slant on an old "moldy" standard.

The Black Martini

What you need: 2-1/2 oz. Blavod, 1/2 oz. blackberry brandy, a shallow bowl of coarse sea salt, 1 green olive with pimento, 1 ghost, 1 toothpick.

How you do it: Dip your martini glass in water and then in the salt to coat the rim of the glass. Chill the glass. Pour vodka and brandy into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake, strain, and pour into the chilled martini glass. Add olive and ghost to a toothpick, then place across the glass.

The Black Cosmo

What you need: 2 oz. Blavod, 5 oz. cranberry juice, 1 oz. triple sec, 1 oz. lime juice, a shallow bowl of red gourmet sugar, 1 maraschino cherry, 1 scull and crossbones toothpick.

How you do it: Dip your martini glass in water and then the sugar to coat the rim of your glass. Chill the glass. Pour cranberry juice, triple sec, and lime juice into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake, strain, and pour into the chilled martini glass. Add vodka slowly so as not to mix. Add cherry to the skull and crossbones toothpick and place in glass (this will be the stirrer).

The Frankenstein Special

What you need: 1 oz. apple juice, 2/3 oz. Pisang Ambon liqueur (a bright green colored, tropical fruit/banana flavored liqueur), 2/3 oz. lemon juice, 2/3 oz. vodka, lemon-lime soda (Sprite or 7-Up), edible fake blood (water, corn starch, and red food coloring), 1 raspberry, 1 bat toothpick, 1 small paintbrush.

How you do it: Mix fake blood and paint onto the rim of a chilled glass, alternating long and short drips. Pour all liquids into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake, strain, and pour into the glass. Add raspberry to bat toothpick and wedge raspberry onto the rim of the glass.
